937 Condominiums - Pearl District - 937 NW Glisan St

937 Condos, Portland Oregon

The 937 Condos and lofts in the Pearl were built in 2008 and tower over the surrounding buildings on NW Glisan Street. They are located on NW Glisan between NW 10th and NW 9th and are on Portland's Streetcar line. The building features 114 homes and 16 floors. The architecture of the 937 is a bright spot in the Pearls horizon with a sleek exterior that features red balconies overlooking the city. The building is innovative in design and is LEED certified.

The units range in size from one bedroom, one bathroom units that are approximately 950 square feet to the two bedroom, 2 bathroom units that range from 1000 - 1600 square feet. There are also 2 floors of penthouses that go up to 4400 square feet and feature up to 5 bedrooms. These penthouses include concierge service, private access to the top two floors and dazzling city views.

The great thing about the condos in the 937 building is that they are designed in such a way that there are more windows and light in the same square footage as your typical condo floor plan. They did this by taking the long and skinny floor plan that many condos in the area use for the smaller units and squishing that down into a wider space that has more windows, but the same amount of square footage. It makes the condos feel more like condos and less like lofts, there is a modern coziness to the units in the 937 building that is desirable and unexpected in a new structure.

Currently there are 3 condos for sale ranging from $399,000 up to $750,000 with an average of $520 per square foot. In the last 90 days 7 condos have sold here ranging from $400,000 up to $825,000 with an average of $517 per square foot. These condos were on average 1209 square feet in size and were on the market around 99 days. This building has a very desirable location and great amenities too. The building includes a concierge, retail on the main floor, a parking garage, a green roof space, a modern lobby and more.

The 937 gets mixed reviews based on it's exterior facade. Some people love it while others are not big fans. It is a stark contrast to the other architecture that surrounds it and not only in the height factor. The light color of the brick and the bold red color of the balconies can be jarring at first glance and when it was being built I remember having mixed feelings about the building myself. Now to me it seems like it was meant to be there and fits in with the hip Portland vibe that the Pearl district exudes.

The 937 condos are in the heart of the "Artsy" part of the pearl district.  There are several art galleries on NW 9th Ave including the Elizabeth Leach Gallery, and the world famous modern furniture store Hive is a half a block away on Glisan.
