American Plaza Towers

The American Plaza Towers Condominiums are located in the South end of Downtown Portland on SW 1st Ave. The American Plaza Towers consist of 3 highrise condo buildings and 300 condos. The three towers are as follows: The Lincoln Tower was built in 1972 and is 18 stories high, The Grant Tower was built in 1975 and stands 26 stories high and the Madison Tower was built in 1980 and is 22 stories high. These condos have a wonderful view of the Willamette River, 24 security, concierge, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and exercise rooms, meeting rooms, great parking and more.
The American Plaza Towers recently had a large special assessment to rebuild the garage structure. All of the above ground parking at the towers is reserved for visitors. It requires a pass from the concierge, but this is a great feature for those who love to entertain or have guests. The towers have ample parking for both homeowners and visitors. There will be another assessment in the near future (maybe 1-2 years) to update the windows. The towers were built between 1972 and 1980, so it is expected to have these major repairs happening now. The current board members on the HOA at the towers are serious about taking care of these deferred maintenance issues to ensure the comfort and livability of the condos for many years to come. Even with the special assessments these condos are very affordable for being in such a wonderful location in downtown Portland.

The streetcar is one block away from the towers and allows great access to restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and more. The Tom McCall Waterfront Park is a short walk from the towers and the views of the Willamette River and Portland’s Eastside are outstanding. The Tilikum Crossing Bridge is close to the towers and the streetcar goes right over it making access to the Eastside easy. Tilikum Crossing is the largest car free bridge in the United States, although the MAX orange line and streetcar do cross it. Tilikum Crossing was designed and built to create a connection between the inner Eastside of Portland and Downtown. People can walk across it to Waterfront Park and up to the Farmer’s market and back to the Eastside.

Location isn’t everything the American Plaza Towers has to offer, there are many other wonderful amenities as well. The indoor swimming pool is open year round while the outdoor pool is only open in the summer months. There is 24 hour security, a concierge, underground and gated parking for residents, locker rooms and sauna, exercise rooms, meeting rooms, wine and bike storage, recycling options, Friday Happy Hour and monthly newsletters. Below are some interior photos from a condo here that Brian just sold:
